Last Monday, Rabbi Richter’s entire Yeshiva University High School for Boys (MTA) shiur went on an inspirational chesed trip to pack for Kosher Troops, an organization which delivers kosher food to Jewish American soldiers who are on bases both at home and abroad. Working together, the talmidim packed boxes of Shavuot food for over 250 soldiers! This included mini cheese cakes, Bamba, Cheez-Its and Entenmann’s cheese danishes. Also included was a letter explaining what the yom tov of Shavuot is and what Kosher Troops does. The talmidim were inspired by the story of how a girl’s bat mitzvah project sparked what is now a large organization with many volunteers who want to help Jewish soldiers.
