Rachel Coalition Spring Fundraiser Planned at Morris Museum

Rachel Coalition will host its spring fundraiser to benefit victim services on May 14 at 7:30 pm at the Bickford Theater at the Morris Museum in Morristown, New Jersey. The program “Standing Up For Women, An NFL Player Speaks Out,” will feature Mark Herzlich, former NY Giants football player.

Herzlich grew up a star athlete in three sports before attending Boston College where he was one of the top defensive players in all of college football. Following a 2008 season where he was a first team All-American and the ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Herzlich was forced to sit out the entire 2009 season after being diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.

Herzlich works closely with a number of organizations that support victims of domestic violence. He is on the board of A Call to Men, an organization that promotes the core principles of healthy, respectful manhood as a means to prevent violence and discrimination against all women and girls. He was the first NFL player to star in public service announcements for the No More domestic abuse awareness campaign created by Mariska Hargitay and The Joyful Heart Foundation. He also helped to stage a domestic violence awareness event at a Giants home game. He seeks to inspire others to stand up to any challenges they may face and achieve their dreams.

Proceeds from the event will benefit victim services for Rachel Coalition, the domestic violence program of Jewish Family Service of MetroWest New Jersey. The mission of Rachel Coalition is to improve the lives of those affected by domestic violence by providing a comprehensive and coordinated response to domestic violence in the MetroWest community and the community at large.

The registration fee for the event is $118. A dessert reception follows the performance (strict Kosher dietary laws observed). For more information or to register, please visit https://www.jfsmetrowest.org/rachel-coalition-2019-fundraiser/ or call 973-765-9050, ext. 1708.
