Parallax has won another Silver Crown Award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Ramaz’s literary and art magazine was one of 19 magazines of this type that won, from a field of applicants across the country. Below is CSPA’s description of Parallax, which appeared on the screen along with snapshots of some of the magazine’s pages:
“This issue of Parallax explores the multiple meanings of journeys: Journeys in Time, Journeys into Our World and Journeys Into the Self. These expeditions are documented with particularly strong photography, starting with the cover image, a shot of a corridor that demonstrates the photographer’s command of lighting. Later in the magazine, the photo of newspaper fragments under a puddle with reflections of buildings also deserves praise for its use of angles and depth. Likewise, the writing also portrays depth. The Journeys theme proves apt both literally, in homages to the pilgrimage in “The Canterbury Tales” and reaching the top of Mount Beacon, and metaphorically in journeys into night or Journeys that merely take the narrator “away” or deeper into themselves. Parallax’s writers and artists are all talented enough to bring their readers along with them for the trip.”
Kol hakavod to the creative team and all contributors for this accomplishment.
