Next Shabbat, on July 9, Rav Yair and Rabbanit Naomi Shachor, of Ma’ale Levona, Israel, will be the Scholars-in-Residence at Congregation Bnai Yeshurun, 641 West Englewood Avenue in Teaneck.
Rabbanit Shachor will speak on Shabbat afternoon at 6 for women, on the topic “Ruth and Naomi: Navigating the Complicated Relationship of Mothers-in-Law and Daughters-in-Law.” Then, between Mincha and Ma’ariv, Rav Shachor will speak on “Couples, Intimacy and Separation: The Story of Rav bar Ashi and His Wife.”
Rav Yair and Naomi Shachor are the Rav and Rabbanit of Ma’ale Levona, a small yishuv near Shiloh, in the Shomron. Rav Shachor is also the Rosh Yeshiva of Michlol, Israel’s Institute for Technology and Jewish Studies, where men post-army service learn Torah and a career in technology. Rabbanit Shachor, of American origin, now teaches at various girls’ seminaries in Israel.
