In December, we sent a communication to the community regarding the civil proceedings brought against Shalom Yehudiel, the owner of two RCBC-supervised establishments, The Humble Toast and La Cucina De Nava. At that time, we decided to continue supervising the kashrut of these two restaurants on the condition that Mr. Yehudiel would not be present in either establishment.
On Wednesday of last week, Mr. Yehudiel was arrested on allegations of sexual misconduct. The RCBC is currently contractually obligated to provide kashrut supervision to The Humble Toast and La Cucina Di Nava. While Mr. Yehudiel is entitled to due process, given the serious nature of the criminal accusations, the RCBC has decided not to renew its contracts with Mr. Yehudiel.
As of October 1, 2022, The Humble Toast will no longer be under the supervision of the RCBC. As of January 1, 2023, La Cucina Di Nava will no longer be under the supervision of the RCBC.
