The Rabbinical Council of Bergen County (RCBC) is deeply pained to learn of the allegations of abuse of a minor made against a member of our community who worked as a mental health professional. The crimes alleged represent not only violations of secular law, but also of some of our most basic halachos (Jewish laws) and ethical standards. We commend JFS of Clifton-Passaic for cooperating fully with the authorities, and reiterate to all of our constituents that, as a matter of Jewish law, we advocate the reporting of reasonable suspicions of abuse to the civil authorities and full cooperation with the criminal justice system.
The FBI is urging any additional victims and anyone who believes that they have information that may be relevant to the investigation to call them (212) 384-1000 or go to https://tips.fbi.gov/. Although we recognize how enormously difficult it can be, we strongly encourage any other victims to please come forward. We offer to you our wholehearted support and will do whatever we can to provide aid and comfort. We remain committed to fostering communities where those who have been victimized and those who assist in protecting the victimized are shown only kindness and support.
