Refa’enu is a nonprofit organization that was formed as a means to provide the Jewish community with education about and support for those affected by depression and bipolar disorder as well as other behavioral health issues. This includes people who themselves have these mood disorders, as well as their loved ones. This mission is being achieved via educational outreach and through continued management of peer-led support groups for people with mood disorders and for their loved ones, both in the U.S. and in Israel. The ultimate goal is to, by providing such education and support, assist these individuals on an ongoing basis toward better management of these disorders, as well as educate the general Jewish population and decrease disorder-related stigma that may impede proper care and management.
Please see the Support Group section of the organization’s website at refaenu.org for the particulars of groups and for information on the benefits of peer support. Refa’enu-related articles and videos are also available on the site. For more information about the organization please contact [email protected].
