(Courtesy of The Springboard School) The Springboard School, formerly the JCC Therapeutic Nursery, joined Lubavitch on the Palisades in September of 2019. The Springboard School is a nationally recognized program, serving bright young children with social, emotional or behavioral challenges, including high-functioning autism. Through their extensive experience and success, The Springboard School staff has developed a social-skills curriculum, soon to be published. The curriculum teaches children, through direct lessons, how to communicate, socialize and regulate their emotions—crucial skills necessary for success in all areas of their lives. Parents are collaborators in their child’s treatment at The Springboard School, where they learn strategies to help their children at home and in their surroundings.
The Springboard School has had a wonderful beginning, forming a strong partnership with Lubavitch on the Palisades. Seven of the children in their afternoon class attend Lubavitch on the Palisades classes in the morning. Teachers from both programs regularly interact and collaborate to provide the children with a positive experience in both programs. As a result, a seamless full-day program is provided.
Due to the tremendous success of the afternoon class of 5- and 6-year olds at The Springboard School, they are planning to open a morning program. Registration is now open for a class of 3- and 4-year-olds, three mornings a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This class, like the afternoon class, will include individual language therapy and occupational therapy as well as weekly parent counseling.
In addition, The Springboard School will open a “Mommy and Me” toddler socialization group for 2- and 3-year-olds who are delayed in language and social skills. This group will meet two mornings a week, one hour per session. (Pull-out therapies are not included for this program.)
All Springboard School classes are run by experienced special education teachers and language therapists. Children are accepted on a rolling admission basis.
