Rinat Yisrael to Host Prof. Menahem Ben-Sasson

Prof. Menahem Ben-Sasson, chancellor of Hebrew University, will speak on “The Cairo Genizah: The Window to a Millennium of Unique Jewish Creativity” on Shabbat Chol Hamoed Sukkot, September 29, at 5:05 PM.

Professor Ben-Sasson is the chancellor of Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Previously, Professor Ben-Sasson served as Hebrew University’s 13th president, a position he held for eight years. Prior to that, he was a member of the Israeli Knesset, where he served as chairman of the Knesset’s Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, and headed the Knesset Lobby for Higher Education. He has been a visiting lecturer at leading institutions in the United States, including Yeshiva University, Jewish Theological Seminary of America and the University of Pennsylvania.

After earning a Ph.D. in Jewish History at Hebrew University, Ben-Sasson completed his post-doctoral studies at the University of Cambridge. He later served as Hebrew University’s rector and deputy dean of the faculty of Humanities.
