(RJFL) Week 5 of the Rockland Jewish Football League (RJFL), sponsored by Whee/SR Play, featured the second round of inter conference matchups, with the Monsey teams maintaining their dominance. Despite noticeable improvements by Teaneck teams as they adapt to the league’s competitive nature, Monsey teams captured victories in nine of the 10 games.

As the season enters its back half, the playoff race is heating up. With eight teams from each conference set to make the playoffs, every game is now critical. While some teams are beginning to solidify their spot, no team is out of the running.

In one of the week’s most thrilling matchups, Detour and the Cobras battled neck-and-neck throughout the game. Trading scores in a tightly contested affair, Detour managed to pull ahead by a single point with just 45 seconds remaining. However, the Cobras, driving in the final moments for a potential game-winning score, suffered a heartbreaking turnover. A mishandled pass from their quarterback turned into a game-sealing pick-six, giving Detour a hard-fought victory.

Precision Writers celebrated their first win of the season in a dramatic 31-25 victory over the Wolverines. Dovid Nimni, stepping into the quarterback and leadership role for the first time in his RJFL career, delivered a flawless performance. Nimni threw for five touchdowns with no interceptions. The Wolverines kept the game competitive, but critical mistakes proved costly. A late turnover and two failed fourth-down conversions ultimately led to a Writers victory.
