RKYHS Judaic Studies classes have been learning about the importance of Yerushalyim and the historical background of this special day. Rabbi Mintz’s 10th grade girls studied the story recorded in masechet Makkot of Rabbi Akiva and his friends as they saw the ruins of the Beit Hamikdash. They discussed the importance of maintaining emunah and keeping a positive attitude even in times of extreme difficulty.
RKYHS students then celebrated Yom Yerushalayim with a Cake Wars competition—decorating cakes in the theme of Yerushalayim. Judges were so impressed with the students’ creativity. Thank you to the school’s bnot sherut for facilitating this fun and exciting program.
