RKYHS students took part in a variety of Yom Ha’atzmaut-focused activities throughout the day, including a screening of the film “Beneath the Helmet,” a documentary highlighting five Israeli teenagers and their experiences being drafted into the IDF, a school-wide Kahoot game featuring a host of Israeli trivia, and special Israel-focused learning sessions on topics including learning about the creation of the state, Israel in the Torah, what Israel means to us, the meaning behind “Hatikvah,” and more.

RKYHS students continued the celebration with “Yom Ha’atzmaut Bachutz” with outdoor festivities starting with an Israel-themed treat, soccer, basketball, the very common beach game in Israel, referred to as matkot, sheshbesh (backgammon), festive a capella music and other recreational activities. The students were able to hang out and enjoy the activities and each other’s company at their leisure.
