Last Thursday marked the kick off of the 2016 OU-JLIC (Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus) Winter Conference, which continued through the weekend. The Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus (JLIC) program pairs rabbis with 22 college campuses throughout North America to ensure Jewish continuity for day school students who choose to attend secular campuses. JLIC programming includes social programming as well as daily Torah learning and tefillah opportunities.
JKHA and RKYHS Assistant Principal of Student Services Gary Berger, in his role as chair of the Jewish Day School College Counselor Network, was asked by the OU to arrange a half day seminar with the JLIC leadership and community day school college counselors. More than 45 Jewish day school counselors attended this workshop, and Mr. Berger presented at a session on the importance of secular options for the students, and the need for more Modern Orthodox support on these campuses.
