The RKYHS Chess Team defeated their opponent JEC in their recent chess meet, winning the match with a score of 8-6. The match proved that the RKYHS Chess Team is a force to be reckoned with. This win was extremely significant to the team, as it demonstrated the enormous potential of its freshmen, who played skillfully against their opponents, many of whom were sophomores, juniors and seniors. These freshman, who had joined the team at the beginning of the year with little experience, have progressed dramatically, as demonstrated by this latest win. This increase in skill can be attributed in part to the multiple weekly practices during lunches and Chug, which have allowed students to practice and learn new tactics and strategical ideas with Rabbi Pecaric. The Chess Team has come a long way since its inception four years ago, and RKYHS looks forward to continued success throughout the coming seasons.
