RKYHS Drama Club Performance of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Lights Up Stage

The enchanting world of “Beauty and the Beast” came to life with a performance by the Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School drama club on Monday, December 11. This magical production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a classic musical in which the school’s young actors took on the roles made famous by the animated movie.

Over 30 RKYHS students worked as actors, production designers, painters as well as helped market this amazing production.

All in attendance were transported to the heart of a quaint French town, where the smart and beautiful Belle yearns for something more than her provincial life. When her father gets lost in the woods, he seeks shelter in an old castle, but is soon taken captive by the master of the house—a horrible Beast. Belle surrenders her freedom to save her father’s life and, by taming the Beast, teaches him the meaning of love.

Fresh Theatre Arts CEO Tova Halpern, directed the Kushner production. “It has been a wonderful experience working with these amazing actors,” says Halpern. “I am especially proud of the cooperation, mutual respect, level of commitment and teamwork that has been demonstrated by everyone in this production.” This production is musically directed by Fresh Theatre Arts teaching artists, Avi Wolf and assistant directed by Nikole Rizzo.
