RKYHS Focuses on Theme of the Year

The RKYHS school year is off to a great start. The whole high school will focus on the theme of “Just Do it, Right” based off the pasuk from Devarim, “V’asita hayashar v’hatov b’einei Hashem, And you shall do what is proper and good in the eyes of Hashem.” The theme was announced on the first day of school as the whole school gathered in the Epstein Stein Auditorium for an opening assembly to kick off the year together.

RKYHS will embrace the theme of yashar this year, to do what is right. Instructional language inspired by this verse in Devarim (6:18) will emphasize the value of striving for good and taking the path of purity, not compromise. Through the inspiration of the verse and its exegetical application, students will be inspired to do more than the minimum that is expected of them and choose what is right and embrace goodness as a way of life.

Throughout the first week of school students jumped back in as they got accustomed to their new schedules and teachers and reconnected with friends.

Head of School Rabbi Rubin set out time to meet with each grade individually. He took the opportunity to gather each grade together to target his remarks specifically to what pertains to that grade, as he laid out expectations and thoughts on the year ahead. Seniors marked the end of their first week with the first pre-Shabbat tish of the year as they gathered for singing, dancing, divrei Torah and Shabbat delicacies.

All of RKYHS is looking forward to a full-school shabbaton this weekend on the grounds of Camp Lavi to have a chance at the start of the school year to come together.
