RKYHS Freshmen Girls Bond at Shabbaton

On a recent Shabbat, the freshman girls of RKYHS enjoyed a beautiful community shabbaton in Livingston. Between the energetic singing, group-games and the warm atmosphere, the freshman girls had a wonderful time and bonded together as a group. The goal of the shabbaton, which was led by female members of the faculty, was to build the cohesion of the girls and to give them the opportunity to grow closer as a class.

On Friday the shabbaton kicked off with challah baking, pottery with Color Me Mine, and an ice cream party. Over the course of Shabbat, the girls exchanged “Shabbat-o-grams,” which were notes that they had written to one another before Shabbat, expressing how excited they were to spend time together over the shabbaton. The girls also took initiative in giving Divrei Torah at each meal, and enthusiastically took part in the singing throughout the weekend. Ninth grade is a transitional year as students begin their high school career, and the freshman girls of RKYHS came together as one to make this shabbaton a huge success.
