RKYHS Homeless Awareness Club Gets Help From JKHA

After reading the book “The Hundred Dresses” where the main character was teased for always wearing the same faded dress, second graders organized a school-wide clothing drive to help those in need. Before Thanksgiving, the second graders brought the many bags they collected filled with clothing, shoes, blankets and more to RKYHS to Rabbi Kirsch and the RKYHS Homeless Awareness Club. The students were overwhelmed to see how much clothing they had collected!

The day before Thanksgiving, students from the RKYHS Homeless Awareness Chug brought food, the collected clothing and supplies to J’s House in Irvington, a non-profit organization that seeks to provide transitional and temporary housing for those in need. The recipients welcomed the countless bags of clothes collected by the JKHA second grade. In addition to the material items that were handed out, RKYHS students brought smiles and words of kindness that made a big difference to the people they were helping.
