The 12th annual Rikudiah, the inter-yeshiva high school girls’ dance competition, and tzedaka fundraiser took place this past Sunday December 11, at RKYHS. The Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School was thrilled to host the competition which gives those students interested in dance the opportunity to become leaders in their area of interest by producing something of their own while also developing their talents in a meaningful setting. Participating schools were RKYHS, Hillel, Flatbush, Ma’ayanot, Ramaz, HANC, Ilan, SAR, Frisch, HAFTAR, Magen David and Katz Yeshiva High School of South Florida, who each sent a dance team to compete.
The RKYHS girls dance team has been practicing all year and is led by a skilled dance instructor. All teams presented beautifully, with amazing talent, creative themes and complex choreography. Three professional Jewish dancers judged the competition to determine the winners. As first place winner, the Ramaz team will be choosing the tzedaka that the proceeds of the event will go to.
One of the highlights of the event is the conclusion of the program, where the girls from all the dance teams as well as the spectators dance together. It is a beautiful scene to watch over 200 yeshiva high school girls from different schools dance and sing together to contemporary Jewish music. RKYHS invites women and girls to be a part of the excitement next year at the 13th annual Rikudiah! For more information, contact CM Gerson, the Rikudiah coordinator, at [email protected].
