This year, RKYHS is launching a new initiative called Shorashim. This program will provide support for students who come to RKYHS with a background that differs from a traditional yeshiva day school education. The program is being led by Rabbi Chayim Gerson. In his role, Rabbi Gerson will help these new students integrate seamlessly into the RKYHS Judaic Studies program and ensure their ability to maximize their learning experience. He will meet with students regularly to facilitate their transition and support them while they get acclimated to their new environment.

Rabbi Gerson has previously worked in MTA, Frisch and Bruriah High School. He attended Yeshiva University and its affiliated RIETS semicha program, and then completed his master’s at the Azrieli Graduate School for Jewish Education. Rabbi Gerson aims to instill a love and curiosity for learning, while maintaining lasting relationships with his students in and out of the classroom.
