Kushner won both home openers against a feisty Ramaz group on an exciting sports night matinee. The JV game saw a big performance from Kushner’s top line with Isaac Mendelson potting a hat trick and the entire line scoring a combined 13 points in the 9-0 win. The depth was solid too, many players doubling their career totals with contributions on the scoresheet. Goaltender Nate Savitz was strong in the crease shutting the door all night on any Ramaz attempt on 15 saves.
The varsity match began with the Ramaz Rams controlling the flow of the game in the first quarter but the score remained 0-0 after one with some big saves from Nathan Orbach. Shortly into the second, Max Orbach broke the ice with a snipe over the goalies shoulder. This led to a three goal period that was enough to let Kushner grind out a 5-3. Max Orbach finished with two goals and an assist and linemate Josh Lando put up a goal and two assists, which stood as the game winner. Guts win for varsity who was missing arguably their top offensive player, Eitan Kaynan.
