Elie Kligman, an 18 year old baseball player from Nevada spoke to the RKYHS Sports Management Club. Kligman is hoping to become the first Shabbat and kosher-observant professional baseball player for the MLB. Kligman is one of the top-ranked players in Nevada and was one of only 175 high-schoolers from across the country—and the first Orthodox Jew—to take part in the Major League Baseball-scouted Area Code Baseball Games. He took a number of questions and answers from the students about how he balances his observances with baseball and stays true to himself. He also credited gaining the respect of players and coaches and finding coaches that are willing to work with the schedule.
