January 8 was the birthday of Eliezer Ben Yehuda, the man who revived the Hebrew language, transforming it into a national, modern, spoken language. The Israeli Education Ministry has declared his birthday as Hebrew Language Day. RKYHS celebrates this day with songs, Hebrew word competitions and learning about the new additions from the Academy of the Hebrew Language. Students helped decorate a display in the hallway with many of the new words that Eliezer Ben Yehuda invented along with new words added by the academy.
