The entire tenth grade at RKYHS visited Grounds for Sculpture as part of the curriculum in the Introduction to Art II class. The students have been studying the style of Seward Johnson and they were able to recognize his pieces from afar and appreciate his works in person. A scavenger hunt increased the students’ engagement with the art. Grounds for Sculpture is a collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures and indoor galleries that makes art accessible in an informal setting. As a follow-up to the trip, the whole grade will be working together to create a single sculpture that will be displayed at RKYHS.
