For their recent SEED speaker, RKYHS students and JKHA eighth graders heard from Shabbos Kestenbaum. Kestenbaum is a student activist and the lead plaintiff against Harvard University in a case alleging pervasive and systemic antisemitism. He is a regular contributor on national media, has testified in front of the United States Congress multiple times, and lectures internationally on Jewish communal issues. Kestenbaum shared his experience on campus pre- and post-October 7, and the extensive and exhaustive steps he has taken since then to combat anti-semitism. Utilizing his candor and wit, Kestenbaum kept students in rapt attention as he impressed upon them the need to wear their Jewish pride as comfortably and confidently as possible; how it is more important than ever before. He was emphatic about students standing up for Israel and their Jewish identity, and to be the living testament to an Am Yisrael Chai.
