RKYHS students heard from former baseball player Adam Greenberg for last week’s SEED speaker. Greenberg epitomizes perseverance. Greenberg worked hard for years to reach the major leagues and was drafted by the Chicago Cubs. In his first at bat for the team in his debut, Greenberg was hit in the head by the first pitch which ended his professional career.

Determined to not let that moment be the end of his career, a campaign was rallied around him to get him one more at bat, which he did with the Florida Marlins several years later. Greenberg shared his story along with the keys to perseverance and maintaining a positive attitude. He stressed to students to appreciate the opportunities when they come your way, not to dwell on the “what ifs,” never give up and always allow people to help you through the hard times.
