As preparations for Purim were underway at RKYHS last week, students were fortunate to hear a special presentation regarding the different minhagim of Sephardi and Ashkenzi Jews on Purim. RKYHS faculty member Rabbi Yosef Sharbat, dressed in traditional festive garb of his own Afghani tradition, described a number of the different customs of the Sephardic communities with regard to the observance of Purim, including the Torah reading, dressing up, the Sephardi Megilla and more.
