A team of three RKYHS juniors placed as top finalists at the CIJE (Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education) Shark Tank competition in New York City for their J-DAWG Juul detector. In front of a panel of experts, and in a Shark Tank format, the students flawlessly presented their J-DAWG, which senses Juuling in schools and notifies appropriate administrators.
The group was selected as one of only seven final teams, out of more than 70 Shark Tank submissions considered, and more than 400 capstone projects displayed at CIJE Innovation Day at Bell Labs in May. The device was prototyped in their scientific engineering course, part of the four year RKYHS STEM sequence.
