RKYHS Students Receive Up Close Look at NASA Mars Landing

As part of JKHA/RKYHS faculty member Sri Sundaram’s appointment to the national education advisory board of Infiniscope, a collaboration between NASA and the University of Arizona, RKYHS students were invited to participate in a special webinar, in which a NASA planetary scientist discussed the recent Mars (InSight) landing. The RKYHS students were among a very limited number of students and educators around the country to participate.

The discussion was led by Dr. James Bell, a planetary scientist who has been heavily involved in multiple NASA missions to Mars; such as Mars Pathfinder, Mars Exploration Rovers(Spirit and Opportunity), Mars Odyssey Spacecraft, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter and the Mars Science Laboratory (Curiosity) rover mission. Dr. Bell discussed the mission objectives of the InSight mission and how it relates to what we know and want to know about the red planet.
