RKYHS is proud to announce its students who qualified for recognition from the National Merit Scholarship program. Senior Matthew Mendelsohn was selected to continue on in the National Merit Scholarship process as a semifinalist. Seven RKYHS seniors, Rebecca Arian, Daniel Bank, Miriam Bash, Naomi Klein, Ben Lando, Gabe Nelson, and Roey Novick, were named National Merit Commended Students. Of the 1.6 million program entrants, each of these students is among the top 50,000 highest scoring participants, and among the approximately 34,000 students selected as commended students. Mendelsohn was selected among 16,000 other students nation-wide to advance to the semi-finalist round. All semi-finalists will have the opportunity to continue the competition for the chance to win one of approximately 7,600 National Merit Scholarships, worth more than $30 million, which will be offered in the spring.
