RKYHS Varsity Baseball Cobras Advance to Championship

The Kushner Cobras defeated the MTA Lions in dramatic fashion, 2-1, in the yeshiva league semi-final game on Sunday at Jannarone Field in Parsippany. The Cobras walk-off win was set up by a double from Sam Bernstein, his second of the game. Jon Kirsch legged out an infield single, sending Bernstein around to score the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Bernstein, a senior left-handed pitcher, went the distance and earned his seventh victory of the season. He allowed just three hits and struck out eight. Kushner’s offense also saw hits from Shlomo Hirschey and Ilan Cohen. Defensively, Harry Steil and Koby Stadtmauer were strong at the corners of the infield, Cohen was stellar behind the plate and Gabe Maron played a solid second base. The Cobras eagerly await their opponent for Sunday’s championship game. First pitch is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at Palisades Credit Union Park, the Rockland Boulders’ stadium, in Pomona. Attendance is free and all are welcome.
