To mark their last day of school, RKYHS students participated in a final SEED speaker program. Emblematic of the way that RKYHS strives to engage students in conversations that are challenging, bring them out of their comfort zones and broaden their thinking, they welcomed lawyer and political analyst Bakari Sellers. The New York Times best-selling author, Sellers shared personal stories and reflections, and put recent events into historical context. He discussed the issue of race in the U.S., and offered methods for the students to begin the dialogue and concrete ways for them to affect change. Sellers was appreciative of the opportunity to speak to RKYHS students and is hopeful that with continued open conversations, real change can take place.
