Robust Financial Literacy Programs Offered at RKYHS

This year, RKYHS created new courses in economics that will help develop students’ vital financial literacy skills, whatever their ultimate professional aspirations. Students in 11th and 12th grades will be able to participate in a one-year course on critical financial literacy and life skills designed by bestselling author and nationally syndicated radio host David Ramsey. In 12th grade, the school introduced a challenging Advanced Placement Macroeconomics course, which will also help to prepare students for the complex economic challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. The economic crisis and subsequent displacement of the last many years make the critical importance of this curriculum clear.

In addition to classes in economics, RKYHS created co-curricular activities to explore this important subject. This week, RKYHS began its weekly chug period, which allows RKYHS students to learn about everything from advocacy for the homeless to learning how to play the guitar. Dr. Adam Dobrick, Rae Kushner High School’s new Director of Studies and Advanced Placement Macroeconomics teacher, introduced a new chug to RKYHS dedicated to studying the stock market.
