Rodda Center to Host ‘Garden For Health and Home’

Join Garden Club member Marilyn Figueroa for an inspiring session on growing plants that can be transformed into nourishing hand salves, handmade soaps and naturally scented home products. This event will be held on Thursday, March 13 beginning at 7 p.m. for socializing, with the program beginning at 7:30.

By making these products yourself, you’ll know exactly what goes into them, giving you complete confidence in their purity and wholesomeness.

A garden feeds us in many ways. We grow plants for their beauty, for nourishment, and for well-being. In a world where the environment faces growing threats, a garden becomes more than just a green space; it’s a place of serenity, creativity, and connection. With the right plants, it can also provide ingredients to care for our skin and enhance our homes naturally.

Figueroa holds a Doctorate in Nutrition from Columbia University. Recently retired, she dedicated her career to working with low-income, immigrant communities in New York City, specializing in maternal-child nutrition and human lactation. A lifelong gardener, she now cultivates plants to support pollinators, nourish people and create pure, homemade products.

The event will be held in Room MP2, Rodda Center, 250 Colonial Court, Teaneck.

Parking: Drive to the back and up the hill to the upper lot. For those with mobility concerns, there are no stairs to climb from this entrance.

A delicious buffet lunch will be served.

The cost is $20 per person with reservation and payment by March 5; after that date, the cost is $25. To reserve, email: [email protected] or call Eileen at 201-921-0630.
