Rabbi Haim Jachter recently traveled to Manhattan to deliver a shiur to a group of alumni, alumni parents and friends at the Rothenberg Law Firm. Hosted by TABC parent, Marc Rothenberg, the group was treated to a shiur by Rabbi Jachter on “The Case of the American Rabbinic Court Judge Who Spurred the State Department to Issue a Travel Advisory.” Rabbi Jachter discussed the relationship between Israeli and American rabbinic courts, especially in light of the new Israeli law granting universal jurisdiction to Israeli rabbinic courts. For the lawyers in the room, complimentary CLE credit was arranged by TABC alumnus, Ez Shaffren and his firm Madison Title Agency. This program, as well as many of TABC’s alumni programs, provides a continued connection to TABC. In the future, TABC plans to conduct sessions led by Rabbi Jachter, who also serves as a rabbinic court judge, which will provide not only continuing education credit for attorneys but for accountants (and perhaps physicians as well). In this and many other ways TABC is committed to not only serving current students, but to service their alumni for a lifetime.
