This week in RPRy early childhood, students read “The Apple Tree’s Discovery” by Rachayl Eckstein Davis. In the book, the little apple tree learns that he has hidden stars inside his apples, teaching that Hashem gives special gifts to be discovered deep inside ourselves! After reading, children cut open apples and excitedly found that, yes, there are stars inside apples! They took the opportunity to peel, core and cut the apples, adding some cinnamon, a little lemon juice and honey before cooking it all in the Instant Pot to make delicious applesauce. Finally, we dipped the stars from the apple cores into paint and stamped them onto paper for a fun and creative project, revealing the stars.
Morah Nitza’s kitah daled banot prepared mini trifolds illustrating all the different aspects of Rosh Hashanah. Each fold represented a creative depiction of the meaning of Rosh Hashanah. The girls worked very hard, filling in all the information and cutting out all the elements. It is such a creative way to have all the information about Rosh Hashanah at your fingertips. Kol hakavod banot daled!
