What a Chanukah it was at Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva! On the first day of Chanukah, the early childhood children were treated to an entertaining visit from Small Wonder Puppet Theater members, who sang songs and performed a funny puppet show depicting the Chanukah story! The middle school students played an exciting game of Chanukah Bingo over Zoom and the competitive juices were flowing. Physical education classes also celebrated Chanukah when the students had to create a halachic menorah with gym equipment. They had to assemble the “candles” according to the traditional order of right to left and then “light” them left to right!
This past week, each day was bursting with Chanukah excitement! On Monday, the students had fun taking bets on fun teacher competitions, such as which teacher tossed more balls into the basket and which principal can drink their cup of soda faster. Each night, the early childhood families joined a Zoom Chanukah program, where each family, along with the Mmrahs, got to play games, sing and dance and enjoy each other’s company. As Chanukah began to wrap up, the students also played Human Battleship, held an interactive Rosh Chodesh assembly, played Minute To Win It and held a dreidel competition! There was a lot of excitement and laughter in the air at RPRY this week!
Additionally, RPRY was chosen to participate in a special candle lighting ceremony for the FIDF New Jersey Chapter: An Evening of Celebration & Appreciation, featuring U.S. Special Envoy Elan Carr. RPRY students sang a beautiful Chanukah song followed by the lighting of the seventh Chanukah candle in this virtual candle lighting. This event was moderated by Tal Heinrich, an Israeli Journalist, and included a very moving holiday greeting from a Lone Soldier and IDF Battalion.
