Out of the pages of the Chumash, pesukim from Parshat Shlach became a hands-on experience in Rabbi Chait’s seventh grade boys class as they learned the origin and halachot of the mitzvah of hafrashat challah! The students mixed the ingredients as their rebbe described each of the actions in relation to the parsha, and then sat circling the bowl of rising dough, sefarim in hand, to dig deeper into the pesukim. They were able to clearly visualize the halachic measurements using the dough they made. Finally, the students completed the hafrasha, made the bracha and baked their challah!
