The RPRY girls fifth grade basketball team won its first three games against Manhattan Day School, Yavneh and Ashar.
On Monday night, on Yavneh’s home court, the RPRY Panthers led the scoring and outplayed the capable Yavneh team from the beginning of the game. Playing tough defense and continually outscoring their opponents, RPRY held onto a four to eight point lead throughout the game. With the great offensive efforts of many team members, RPRY ultimately brought home the 26-20 win. Two nights later, in front of a full gym of home court fans, the RPRY Panthers dominated the game, with strong defensive efforts on the part of many team members and outstanding scoring by Ayelet Ostrin, Sigal Ostrin, Nina Even Hen, Ella Gerszberg, Anna Schanzer and Raimee Schanzer. The 34-17 win by RPRY was truly a team effort, involving all eighteen members of the Panther team. The RPRY Panthers are gearing up for their next few games, which will include competitions against Noam, Moriah and Hillel.
