The eighth grade students had the incredible opportunity to fly to Mars, thanks to the Buehler Challenger & Science Center! Each student chose a job of interest and then made their case for why he or she would be a perfect fit and an asset to that team. They then worked in the created teams to complete their mission, while conducting experiments, monitoring life support and implementing navigation orders.
While learning to work like real astronauts, the students chartered a successful flight to Mars using principles of science and technology. Anna Schanzer, who was placed in the communications sector, said she felt as if she was really sitting in a space control room and loved how the experience brought to life what they learned about Mars and space in class and how she was able to get hands-on experience.
