RPRY eighth graders have been working on research and citation skills in Emily Menasha’s social studies class. Students learned how to research using online databases and how to cite their sources. They then chose a topic to research. Topics included the history of Chilean Independence Day, how Starbucks has changed the world of coffee, famous actresses’ influence on fashion, the history of ketchup, pros and cons of the Barbie doll, the rise of Amazon, the 1972 Munich Olympics, and more. Students spent time researching their topics and wrote a short research paper with a works-cited page. Each student also created a Google slideshow and gave a short presentation on their topic. The students learned a lot and did an impressive job!
