RPRY’s second graders participate in a weekly social emotional learning as part of the Second Step guidance program. This week, students worked on skills for improving concentration and flexing their focusing muscles. Students were reflective and mindful about what things make it easier for them to focus when there are distractions and had an opportunity to practice these skills. They listened to a noise and had to raise their hands when they could hear a specific sound and put their hands down when it was no longer playing. Amongst the main sound were other noises that show them how multiple noises could become distracting and teach them how to pay closer attention.
