RPRY Sixth Graders Receive Gemaras

The sixth grade boys in Rabbi Chait’s class celebrated a huge milestone with their התחלת גמרא this week! After two weeks of an introduction to Gemara, students were ready and excited to finally receive their Gemaras and begin their life-long endeavor of studying ש”ס. Before receiving their Gemaras, students heard a story about love for Torah and the importance of consistency with Torah learning. Students were engaged as they heard about גדולי ישראל and recognized that both of these values are keys to success in Torah study. As an example, students were encouraged to hold their Gemaras close to their heart; not like they would hold a bag or any other book. Students were excited to be called up individually to receive the sefarim. They enjoyed celebratory dancing and a treat of doughnuts, but realized that the real treat they received this week was their first Gemara! This was surely a memorable day that will leave a lasting impact on the students, who already look forward to their first siyum!
