RPRY Students Learn About Para Aduma

RPRY seventh and eighth grade students were privileged to listen to a special presentation from Rabbi Eitan Kupietzky of the Gimmel Foundation in honor of Shabbas Parshat Parah. Rabbi Kupietzky works in the south of Israel creating after school educational programs for underprivileged students. In addition, Rabbi Kupietzky and his brother are facilitating the reemergence of the mitzvah of para aduma, by working as a liaison for newly discovered red cows in the state of Texas. The rabbi spoke about the importance of the mitzvah of para aduma and how we currently are not able to keep the mitzvah. The organization set out to find a red heifer and was successful in locating five cows on a Texas farm that have the potential to become a red heifer according to halacha. The cows were moved to Israel where they are now under careful watch. The students were amazed and moved about the potential of rediscovering and reemergence of this special mitzvah.
