RPRY Students Learn About the Supreme Court

RPRY seventh grade classes have had the opportunity to participate in a course focusing on the Supreme Court and landmark Supreme Court cases as a complement to their social studies curriculum this year. Leslie Ostrin, an attorney and parent of four RPRY alumni, is facilitating the intriguing course. Ostrin introduced the students to various landmark Supreme Court cases such as Marbury vs. Madison, Plessy vs. Ferguson and Brown vs. Board of Education. The students learned the background and the importance of each case. The students also reinforced their knowledge of the Bill of Rights and learned about judicial review, precedent and due process within the law. The students have shown wonderful critical thinking and have made great connections with the topics they are learning. The questions the students posed are thoughtful and detailed and they look forward to discovering more in this unique class.
