Veterans Colonel Fred Shaffer, commander of local Jewish War Veterans Post, Private Max Wisotsky and Petty Officer Paul Sharp came to speak at RPRY this week! They spoke to grades four through eight about their experiences in the military and went to each and every classroom collecting the thank you cards all the kindergarten through eighth grade students had made. In the classrooms, they answered questions and spoke to students. The cards will be distributed at the veterans home. Each year, RPRY has a word of the year. Last year it was kavod, the year before it was achdut and this year’s word is hakarat hatov. It was very fitting for the students to show their thankfulness to the brave veterans and appreciate their sacrifice, reinforcing the students’ midah of expressing hakarat hatov.
