The JEC’s RTMA Middle School JV boys hockey team played its second game of the season against Ashar on Sunday November 7, and the Thunder was looking to open its season 2-0 after beating RPRY 12-7 in the season opener last week. The game, which took place in the JEC Thunder Dome, saw a focused Ashar team looking to settle the score against the RTMA Thunder team that knocked it out of playoff contention last year.
The Thunder put together a dominating performance, however, which saw a win of the home opener 7-1.
The game’s scoring marked back-to-back hat tricks for seventh grader Tani Rosenfeld, who had three goals in last week’s season opener against RPRY as well.
Not to be overshadowed, senior Josh Krause also repeated his performance of last week by chipping in his second two goal game, and Yehuda Ostrov scored one to build off his game one hat trick.
The final goal against Ashar came off the stick of seventh grader Judah Fish who brilliantly finished on an accurate centering pass.
On defense, the Thunder got a solid performance in goal from seventh grader Yehuda Speyer, as well as solid contributions throughout the game from defensemen Zachary Kolb, Dovid Engel, Menachem Zwickler and Eitan Romanoff.
In the end, the relentless for-checking pressure established by Thunder offensemen Elan Besterman, Yosef Marcus, Ben Stern and Jacob Kolb proved to be too much for Ashar, and the RTMA Middle School Thunder was in control throughout the game.
The RTMA Thunder JV is scheduled to play Kushner in its next match up on Motsai Shabbat, November 12, at The JEC.
