The lessons of Pirkei Avot came to life on Thursday night as the RTMA Middle School enjoyed a late night Leil Iyun, to which they also welcomed the JEC Lower School’s fifth grade boys class.

The theme of the evening was based upon Pirkei Avot 2:14:

הוּא הָיָה אוֹמֵר, אִם אֵין אֲנִי לִי, מִי לִי. וּכְשֶׁאֲנִי לְעַצְמִי, מָה אֲנִי. וְאִם לֹא עַכְשָׁיו, אֵימָתָי

He [Rabbi Hillel] used to say: If I am not for me, who will be for me? And when I am for myself alone, what am I? And if not now, then when?

Interactive workshops, shiurim, sports and, of course, delicious dinner and snacks were all features of the night and the sounds of cheering and excitement permeated the entire building.
