Elizabeth—This past week I had the amazing opportunity of participating in the 25th annual Yeshiva University National Model United Nations (YUNMUNXXV). YUNMUN is an educational simulation and academic competition in which students learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. It involves and teaches research, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.

I was part of the International Criminal Court (the ICC).

The moment I entered my committee room, I was given a packet outlining the court case I was going to be a part of in 24 hours. I, along with my teammates, spent hours preparing for the case. Some of us memorized witness statements and prepared for our cross-examinations, while others wrote their opening and closing statements. Things got hectic, and sleep was lost, but we all had a great time. YUNMUN gave me an opportunity to meet new people, gain new skills, and have fun at the same time!
