Mr. Jack Halpern, JEC alumnus, former captain of the JEC varsity championship-winning basketball team and the son of Mr. Sam Halpern, a”h, a Holocaust survivor and major benefactor of the Jewish Educational Center, addressed RTMA students, faculty and families at the 2016 National and Segula Honor Societies induction ceremony on Friday. He spoke about the principles and spirit of entrepreneurship and shared some insider updates from his recent visit to Washington as a prominent Israel advocate.
Halpern was joined by his older brother David, also a JEC alumnus. While the National Merit awards recognize academic achievement, the RTMA’s Segula awards recognize the refinement of middot. Both categories were very well represented. Echoing a theme prominent in this year’s 75th anniversary dinner, Rabbi A Neuman, the new principal of RTMA, challenged the students to continue to “dare to dream,” stating that nothing is impossible and that every student is capable of reaching his highest potential.
